FG RETURNED IMPOUNDED SNAKES,SPIDERS AND MILLIPEDES TO DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, UNIVERSITY OF UYO.

Mr Ibrahim Usman Jibril, Minister of state for Environment, has stated reasons why federal government preferred to entrust remaining snakes, millipedes and spiders impounded at calabar seaport more than three weeks ago to the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment, University of Uyo.










It came to their notice that it was the institution that had some of the very few snakes. The minister added, 'they would like experts to regenerate the rare snakes whose venom was sought after and highly priced in international market.
He addressed the federal miministry of Agriculture in the presence of officials of the Nigerian Custom Service which had impounded the wildlife that was smuggled by unknown persons.
The products from the wild life can earn the nation a good sum of money, but nevertheless, they are stashing it in the education sector.
Which will expose the students to more of practical studies than thoery.

Typically a king cobra's venom cost about $156,000 per gallon and it's a wild life product, with the venom of a scorpion topping in the list with about $39,000,000 per gallon, all this liquids are extracted from wild life and use in medicine to treat various kinds of ailments from patients.
It's a good idea shifting this stuff to the university as student will be trained with it and  get to handle them without any mishap.
