100 FIRST CLASS GRADUANTS WILL BE AWARDED IN UNIBEN WITH 1 AEGROTAT AWARD.

According to the UNIBEN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, who disclosed this on Tuesday in Benin while briefing newsmen on activities lined up for the convocation and the 47th Founders’ Day celebration, 100 of the graduating students would be awarded First class degrees.


In a further breakdown of the results, the VC said 1,843 students will graduate with Second class upper while 4,607 made Second class lower degrees.

He said other classes of degrees to be awarded were 1,351 Third class, 188 diplomas, two certificates, 527 unclassified and 152 postgraduate diplomas.


One of the graduands will receive an aegrotat degree, which, in some universities, is a medical certificate or a degree or credit awarded when illness has prevented a student from taking examinations, etc.


The award is to encourage students to work hard in their studies, after all "Efforts are equal but capabilities are not the same".
